Welcome to the dark. Not just dark but TRUE dark!

Economic Confusion Here in the USA - (07-29-2008)

Okay... you get an "economic stimulus check" which puts a small amount of cash into your account. Meanwhile the cost of everyday living has increased by approximately 20% to 30% and then all of the media mills and government agencies wonder why it didn't have any impact? Not to put it a bit to "point-blank" but why don't you people wondering why the miracle bandage of small kickers didn't fix an economy in serious trouble please take the blindfolds off, the earplugs out, and a muzzle on!

Granted politics are not a simple thing, certainly not on a world scale either! Multiple economies across multiple governments all with their own agendas can make things difficult to deal with since we're a world economy these days. Still... being in a war we can't financially afford, giving away truly prodigious amounts of money to nations that hate us, ignoring local problems or whining that they're not solvable or too expensive, looking at a health care system that is no longer crumbling but more akin to a pile of ruins in which the dust has long settled, you'd think that our politicians, lobbyists and mega corporations would stop thinking short term bottom dollar profits and start really looking for solutions. Isolationalism isn't going to be healthy in the long run of course, as a co-worker of mine would be all too happy to revert to, but a more guided and healthy balance of priorities as a nation would do us well and is, at least in my small opinion, something long overdue.

Minor soap box rant ended... thanks for tuning in.

Real Estate and Housing Market are Trashed - (07-29-2008)

Hmmm... well... what happens to an unregulated and overinflated product when the economy starts having issues? Gee, what a surprise! Now the fact that the companies who own the majority of the debt on those properties doesn't have the assets/finances to cover those debts if they're called in is serious. No question about it. But... if I'm in debt and don't have any way to cover $10k in debt for example can I just tap our government for that, get it covered, and then have that paid out by our tax dollars? Granted there would be serious repercussions for not supporting those lenders but they should be held accountable for poor financial practices just as any individual would be! Big business gets so many free passes already why is it that we continue to create more and more?

07-13-2008: Took care of a bit of cleanup...

  • Added the CoH/CoV section
  • Added a post to the DDR section
  • Tweaked the styles a bit and worked on spacing (although the DDR page still has a width kicker I haven't found... :( )

Just coming online after a long down-time. Hopefully things will be smoother than they've been for a while and the site will start to bloom.

A bit of this and that is here. Some game information and game reviews, book stuff, the site owners' personal blog as well as a running project list with links (in some cases) to more details. Roguelike references mixed in along with DDR makes for a pretty broad and eclectic assortment of game genres too!

So much to do again:

  • Design cleanup and finish
  • Database setup
  • Forums setup
  • Lot's more... ;-)
